Target Audience
Who is this class for?
You can say basic things in English, but you pause constantly and translate in your head. This stage breaks that habit with speaking labs built around real situations. You will link words naturally, use American reductions (wanna, gonna, gotta), and hold everyday conversations about food, travel, shopping and entertainment without freezing up. Built on Pearson Top Notch 1 + Top Notch 2 (Units 1–3).
You freeze up and translate every sentence in your head
You drop ending sounds (s, t, d) and avoid speaking
Link words naturally (consonant-to-vowel connections)
Use American speech reductions in real conversation

Hello everyone! Welcome to Ledoly!
My name is The Phi. I'm currently living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, and I have experience teaching English to students from many different countries and backgrounds.
For me, learning English is not only about grammar and vocabulary. It's about communication, confidence, and being able to connect with people around the world. And one of the things I focus on most in my classes is pronunciation — specifically the American accent. A lot of students tell me they can read and write English well, but when they speak, people don't always understand them. That usually comes down to accent, rhythm, and the way native speakers actually link sounds together.
In my classes, we work a lot on things like the American "R" sound, linking words (like how "what are you doing" sounds more like "whaddaya doin'"), reduced sounds such as "gonna," "wanna," "gotta," and "kinda," the flap T (where "water" sounds like "wader" and "better" sounds like "bedder"), and stress and intonation so you sound natural instead of robotic.
I understand that learning a new language can sometimes feel difficult or even stressful, especially when you're afraid of making mistakes. But don't worry — in my classes, mistakes are completely normal because they are part of the learning journey.
My teaching style focuses on helping students speak naturally and confidently through real-life conversations, pronunciation practice, listening activities, and interactive lessons. I always try to create a friendly and comfortable environment so students can enjoy learning instead of feeling pressured.
Besides our lessons, I can also recommend extra materials such as American movies, TV shows, songs, podcasts, speaking topics, and simple daily practice methods like shadowing native speakers to help you improve your English outside the classroom. I believe that learning a language becomes much easier when you make it part of your everyday life.
Whether your goal is to improve your speaking skills, sound more American, prepare for school or work, travel abroad, or simply communicate more confidently, I'll do my best to support and guide you throughout your English learning journey.
